Journeyman

Journeyman

Six months.
One world.
Then it ends.

Journeyman is a survival Minecraft server that runs in seasons. Forty players share one map, Java and Bedrock side by side, and the border only moves out when the server earns it. When the season finishes, the next one starts on a fresh map.

A season has an end date

Most survival servers run until the people leave. This one has a calendar, which means everyone knows when to push, when to build, and when it is time to start over.

  1. Weeks 1 to 3

    Intake is open

New players get in during the first three weeks. After that it is a waitlist, so nobody joins a season that is already finished.

  2. Every week

    One small event

A build battle, a boss, a race or a heist. Short, and nobody has to have played for hours to take part.

  3. Every month

    A server-wide event

Everyone plays it together and the reward is more map: the world border moves out another 2,000 blocks.

  4. Month 6

    The finale

One last event to close the season, and the signup for the next one. Then a fresh map.

The border is the calendar

We start small on purpose. The first world is 8,000 blocks across, 4,000 in each direction from spawn, which is enough room for forty people to find each other and not enough to get lost for a week.

Every monthly event pushes it out another 2,000 blocks in each direction. By the end the map is much bigger than where it started, and the edges are still new.

The Overworld, Nether and End are all generated before the first player logs in, so exploring does not stall the server.

What is different here

One world, two platforms

Java and Bedrock players join the same map and see the same chat. Bedrock names get a dot in front, so you can tell who is on what.

Voice that fades with distance

Proximity voice chat works out to 48 blocks. Walk up to someone and you hear them, walk away and you do not. Java players install one mod to use it.

Your build stays yours

Land claims protect bases, and every block placed or broken is logged. If someone griefs, we roll it back and ban them.

Ore is hidden until you are close

Anti-xray is on, so a hacked client cannot see ore through stone. Free cam, ESP and auto-clickers are banned too.

Fights are opt-in

PvP is off by default. It is on in the arena and during war events we announce ahead of time.

Late is fine

A starter town, a starter kit and a first-week buddy are planned for Season 1, plus two long shared projects like a Nether hub or rail network that anyone can pick up.

Seven rules

Short on purpose. If something goes wrong, the block log is the source of truth.

  1. No griefing or stealing. The block log decides what happened.
  2. PvP is consent-only, except in the arena and during war events.
  3. No x-ray, duping or hacked clients. Client mods only from the approved list.
  4. No unlimited AFK farms. Entity limits per chunk, and AFK players are kicked after 10 minutes.
  5. Keep 150 blocks between bases, and stay out of the spawn protection radius.
  6. Inactive for 30 days and your claims are released. Post a vacation notice for 60.
  7. Mods have the final say on disputes. You can appeal in writing within 7 days.

How to join

The server is whitelisted, so you apply first. It takes a couple of minutes, and your Minecraft username is what we add once you are approved.
